Geometry and Form: Architectural Design Elements & Principles
Project 1
15 / 09 / 2022
In this project 1 I’m trying to use primary elements and ordering principles to express and explain my design. Primary Elements are the visual tools that are used to create a composition. These are point, line, plane, volume / form. Ordering Principles represent how the elements of design are used to create an effect and to help convey design intent. Ordering Principles are axis, symmetry, hierarchy, datum, rhythm, and repetition. In here I’m using symmetry as my ordering principle.
-
In the first picture ( 1st model ) I’m using plane with symmetry.
-
The second picture ( 2nd model ) I’m using point with symmetry.
-
The third picture ( 3rd model ) I’m using line with symmetry.
-
Lastly, for the final model I’m combining my second and third model.
BAMBOO STRUCTURE
project 2
21 / 10 / 2022
This project introduced us to the awareness of anthropometry and ergonomics in a space. In addition, it also encourages us to work on structure installation and the understanding of materiality, space, and human scale.
Space and Sensory: Self - Exploration through Spaces
PROJECT 3
05 / 12 / 2022
In this final project I’m creating 3 spaces using the spatial narrative. In this project I’m developed the sensorial experience of the space by considering the design principles, structure, materiality, anthropometry, ergonomics and architectural narrative via multiple test models and drawings. Besides that, this project introduces us to consider objective and subjective parameters in the design process to create a space that is practical yet poetic.
Reflection
This is one of the hardest modules by far, in this module I learned a lot. Starting from the first project, in this project I have a hard time to come up with an idea and the design, since I have no background in arts and design. However, with the help of my tutor I finally understood and came up with some several ideas. In this module my tutor also helped me a lot by giving me a lot of advice how to improve my design so that it looks better. In this project I also learned how to explore different kinds of abstract ideas using primary elements and ordering principals.
The second project taught me about how to work as a team. At first, I’m quite worried because I thought we couldn’t finish the project, but at the end we can work as a team to finish this project. Moreover, this project taught me how to make a comfortable design for the human body and this taught me about how’s the anthropometry works.
The final project is the toughest project for me in the entire 1st semester. This project taught me a lot, for example: how to come out with a design from my narrative, how to make several spaces using anthropometry. At the end of this project, I also learned how to manage my time, and nonetheless how to work under a lot of pressure.
